The McKinleys Bluegrass Band from Austin, TX

More energy than two people ought to make! The McKinleys are Mike and Lisa McKinley, an Austin acoustic Americana duo on mandolin and guitar. We play what we grew up on and what we love, the kind of music that makes people happy when they hear it: fiddle tunes, honky-tonk, Bakersfield country, cosmic country, and a Grateful Dead tune when the vibe is right. We can play hundreds of songs, take requests, and match the energy to your room, soft and easy while folks eat and talk, lively and spirited when it's time. Mike is a versatile mandolinist, songwriter, and teacher, a founding member of the Bay Area band Harmony Grits and a recording artist. Lisa is a guitarist and songwriter with a master certificate in guitar and songwriting from Berklee. We've had a standing Saturday-morning spot at the Counter Cafe for six years and counting, and we're often booked by the same clients year after year. We play as a duo and bring in excellent Austin musicians on upright bass, banjo, and fiddle when your event calls for a bigger sound. We're a natural fit for weddings and receptions, rehearsal dinners, cocktail hours, private parties, and corporate events. You'll find us easy to reach and easy to work with.
