ChristeningReviewed on November 17, 2007From Fitchburg, MA

We asked that Somewhere Over the Rainbow and We Are Family be played but they weren't. It also would have been nice to have the dj make announcements and welcome everyone on our behalf. He handled the group of children very effectively and everyone had a great time but I think it could have been a bit better with more master of ceremonies displays. He was actually booked for our family Christmas party so he couldn't have done too badly...Thanks......Rick and Carrol LeBlanc

Somewhere Over the Rainbow and We Are Family were actually both played during the event. I was not asked to make any announcements during the Adoption Celebration. I was requested to keep the children busy, and I did just that with balloon animals, dances and contests. Faith (9 year old adopted girl) was given a Care Bear Elephant, a Tierra, necklaces, blow up guitar, and many other gifts from the DJ. As Rick says in his last sentence, the family was so happy with me they asked me to DJ their family Christmas Party coming up in a few weeks. So I must say I'm surprised by the rating.

WeddingReviewed on May 20, 2006From Spencer, MA

I thought the DJ was very nice but we did have a few problems. I had trouble getting him on the phone at first, he did not call when he said he would but I did eventually speak to him a few days later. When we went over everything he was accommodating but during the wedding things did not go exactly as planned. He unfortunately misplaced a cd with our last song on it (we ended up getting another cd and he reimbursed the person who got it)and he then did not charge us for the glow necklaces due to the song mishap. He made a few mistakes during introductions, missing some people and announcing them later. We asked him to play a game for the centerpieces on the tables and that was not done until later in the evening after many people had left and we reminded him. The fact that he recognized that he made a mistake and tried to make up for it says a lot about him but does not change what happened.

I always returned prompt phone calls to this client. I told her I would go over everything with her again about a week before her wedding. She called 3 weeks before the wedding, and I was out of town. I did call her as soon as I got back. This client told me they were going to have their own CD of all their special music. I didn't find out till the day of the wedding that one of their songs was not on the CD they were providing. This song happened to be the song I did not have in my collection. This is the CD the client says I misplaced (never had it.) Even though it was client error, I reimbursed them for the CD and gave them $31.25 worth of glow necklace

Birthday Party (Adult)Reviewed on June 15, 2015From Belmont, MA

Rich was the DJ for a joint 60th birthday party. He arrived on time, was accommodating with set up adjustments I requested, a nice person. We'd sent a list of some songs/artists to give him ideas and felt he wasn't very creative building on that list. We also wanted some Latin music and as he wasn't that familiar, we listed specific songs, but he only played a handful and only when we requested. He was downloading all songs from Spotify and at times the song stuttered, several times the music just stopped while he selected a requested song. We had a good time and enjoyed the dancing but overall we rate our DJ experience as average.

If you are looking for a DJ to only bring a good sound system it is perfect. But if you ask them to show a slideshow be very careful about the equipment they use and the attention to detail they have. The projector comes out yellow so bring your own projector and screen. Also they put the wrong slideshow even though he insisted three times that he had the correct one. One last thing. Make sure that they say nothing in the microphone. He announced a last dance that we had nothing prepared for. It was a total embarrassing surprise. The sound system was awesome.

This wedding was over a year ago. First, they provided a computer with a file containing their video and it said final copy. It apparently had a change after their "Final Copy". I never made any announcements as they had someone else do that. One of their "Friends" made all the announcements. She was missing for over a half hour and all the staff and other vendors were looking for her so that they could move on with the festivities. Their wedding form did however include a "Last Dance". They were overseas when they booked us, and upon their arrival back to the US I met with them for almost 5 hours. I had to go over things twice as the husband wasn't avail

A True Family Affair DJ Service was a great choice for our wedding. They were extremely accommodating, even at the last minute, and the prices they offer are hard to find anywhere else. They were interactive, even on the dance floor, and it seemed all our family and friends had a great time. It would have been nice to have a little more communication during the check handling process, as it's helpful to know the ins and outs of your account. However that was not a huge problem, and it did end up going smoothly. We do recommend this DJ service, takes one thing off your list to worry about. Thank you again to A True Family Affair DJ Service.

Bat MitzvahReviewed on September 5, 2013From Norwood, MA

Jason made our daughter's Bat Mitzvah evening a fun and engaging affair. When we arrived, Jason had already set up all the game prizes in an artistic display. He was accommodating in turning down the music a bit before dinner for the grandparents. Once the meal was finished, the kids danced with enthusiasm and really had a blast with all of the games. Jason also helped us connect our slide show to his speakers, and provided great uplighting to energize the crowd. It would have been nice to have a confirmation the week of the event that he was coming (not just the day of the event). Overall we were very happy and would highly recommend Jason.
