WeddingReviewed on October 18, 2008From Geneva, IL

They were fantastic. They had all the music we requested, and handled on-the-spot requests. Several people at our wedding inquired about them. I said that the DJ's were very helpful and accomodating. They had a questionaire that really helped us tailor their services to fit our event, which relieved some of the stress of wedding planning. They contacted the site manager and worked everything out with her, so I didn't have to. They even worked overtime when asked. They made my event truly memorable.

Rock and Roll music was great. My employees enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately it was very HOT, therefore we did not have alot of involvement from employees.

WeddingReviewed on May 31, 2008From East Troy, WI

Main Event Productions was fantastic. They were extremely accomodating for our outside, backyard wedding; very professional, comfortable and well-spoken on the mike; played a great song-list; and kept the dance floor full all night (even later than originally planned...no one was ready to go home yet)! I would hire them again, and would recommend them to my family and friends without hesitation. Thanks again to Lisa and Daniel! -Amanda and Isaac Cowart, East Troy, Wisconsin

Birthday Party (Kids)Reviewed on March 1, 2008From Barrington, IL

Words can't express how wonderful Dan and Lisa were in all aspects of planning and executing my daughter's 11th birthday party. From the first moment I spoke with Lisa, I knew that Main Event was the right organization for our party. From the lengthy song list that my daughter requested, to the lighting, party games and prizes, and numerous other special requests, Lisa made sure that every last detail was met and exceeded expectations. I would hire them again in a heartbeat and recommend them to anyone and everyone. Main Event made my daughter's birthday a huge success. Lisa and Dan, thank you again for an outstanding job.

Corporate FunctionReviewed on September 20, 2007From Libertyville, IL

Main Event was very easy to work with and were very flexible in accomodating any requests during the day at our corporate event. The range of music they played was great - it had everybody moving to the music and really helped energize our group. Main Event Productions is very passionate about what they do - and it shows in their work. I would certainly recommend them and their services.

Birthday Party (Kids)Reviewed on October 10, 2008From Romeoville, IL

The initial meeting was impressive but when it came down to the day of the party we were somewhat disappointed. It started with them being 45 mins. late and though I understand their is traffic, I did not receive a phone call. My daughter gave them a play list of which only 50% was played and when she asked for specific songs that she had on her list, they did not have it. Her list was not extensive so they can't say they did not have time to play all the songs. We specifically asked them not to play songs with explicitive language and of course the first song contained such language. When asked to stop all slow songs, they continued with 3 more. Quite frustrating!

:

We were 45 minutes later than expected, but we started the show on time..Some of the client's request list only listed artists, not specific song titles..We played 3/4th's of what was given to us..Rest of the night was filled with requests.First song had no explicit language, and came from the request list..

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on July 26, 2009From Oak Park, IL

The people who ran Main Event were very nice, but I was not happy with their performance. They played the wrong song when the groom and I walked into the room for the reception; they did not announce the mother/daughter dance and cut off the first 15 seconds or so of the song; they played a game with our guests that took time away from the reception, did not fit our style, and was not discussed with us beforehand; and despite our very specific song list, they made variations (i.e. Kenny G and Elton John) that we were not pleased with. Overall, if you are a bride and groom with high expectations for music at your wedding, I do not recommend this company.

:

An honest mistake was made for the bride & groom's entrance song..We apologized to them right away, and they said it was no problem at all.I did announce the mother/daughter dance, but the bride was talking to her mother at the time..I do take responsibility for the first few seconds of the song starting before they were ready..I did NOT play any games at this wedding..What I did was pass out "Wishes" for guests to read to the bride & groom during dinner..It did NOT cut into any of their dance time as mentioned..As for the play list, bride only gave me 45 min worth of songs.Dinner ran late &long..Did they want dead air time?

Corporate FunctionReviewed on December 15, 2007From Rockford, IL

My overall experience with Main Event Productions was terrible. First of all any request that we would go and ask for she always would say ok and play it 5 or 6 songs later and always with an attitude. I went up to her several of times letting her know that if she seen that the music was not motivating the employees that she should take it off and try something else. But still after my request nothing changed. None of the type of music that we requested was played. They also said that there would be games and not one game was played, I would not ever refer this DJ to any family or friends. This was the most terrible experience that I have ever been faced with.

:

First of all this feedback was very uncalled for. The hiring party NEVER gave us a playlist, and just 3 days before the event gave us some suggestions on what types of music they would like to hear. We were having some trouble finding what they were looking for. We did try to call the client, but they never returned our call. We had many requests that night, so I was unable to play all requests immediately. The client did come up to me and basically "Demand" that I cut off a song in the middle if I saw that no one was dancing to it. That's a big no no in the DJ industry. I would just ask that you look at our other comments before you let this one deter you.

Wedding CeremonyReviewed on June 22, 2010From Chicago, IL

Met with Lisa before wedding and she was very professional and accomodating. She actually gave us additional ideas and helpful suggestions about things that we hadn't thought of. They were set up on time and stayed until the very end. The only comment that was made afterwards by the bride was that they played quite a few songs that weren't on our request list, and played one song repeatedly during dinner service, but I honestly didn't notice that. Overall, I thought that they were very good and I would definitely use them again and recommend them to a friend.

:

Glad I could help with the suggestions. As for the play list, I emailed the Bride's mother with the exact list I played that night..There were only 4 songs played that were not on the list..Those I'm sure were requests from guests. The song that was repeated was during cocktails I believe, and it was due to a song malfunction. We had to replay an old song as to not have dead air time..

Wedding ReceptionReviewed on June 21, 2010From Grayslake, IL

Although they are a family business that worked hard to accommodate us, there were some slight issues. Communication via email was mediocre. We had several issues with a projector: Dan was unable to set it up, walked in front of it, bumped into it, and stood in front of our guests’ view. We were frustrated that the first five songs were all requests (way too fast paced and corny songs). Because back to back requests were played, less than half of our list was played. Despite these problems, everyone danced and had a good time. The pricing offered was right, and the equipment good. However, we would have chosen a higher quality / priced DJ if we had to do it again.

:

Clients NEVER asked us to set up/run the projector beforehand, they only asked us to locate one for them.Slide show ran with no problems, unlike groom stated. This client believed he was the only client I had. Feedback didn't of course mention the numerous times I went to their house to make the play list with them..Songs played were chosen by the couple & guests.I have a exact list of what was played that night, and there were no requests made until later in the evening.. First 5 songs were from THEIR play list.At least 90% of their list WAS played. When a couple says I can take requests from guests, they should know it's hard to then get to everything on their list.

Graduation PartyReviewed on July 31, 2010From Rockford, IL

Unfortunately I was not happy with the overall performance. The music sounded good, the speakers had good volume but the karaoke aspect had lots of hiccups and interruptions due to technical difficulties. There were lots of times everyone was waiting for the technicians (DJs) to figure out what was wrong with the wiring or the computer or some technical aspect.

:

The only interruption with karaoke here was when in the middle of the show client asked us to totally move our set up to another spot at the party, but of course that was not mentioned..Client assumed that our karaoke was instant loading for singers..It does take 2-3 minutes at times to load a song..That is with almost any karaoke system..There were no wiring or computer problems, just impatient people that had way too much to drink.Unfortunately we got the raw end of the deal AGAIN.
