From Motown to Yourtown - The Soul Persuaders, (Les Carter, Fred Williams and Phil Weaver) are from Detroit, home of Motown. We have toured and played with many of the major R&B and Motown groups. Managers Introduction I was blessed to have been a young man in Oakland, California during the 60s. At that time blues and R&B artists from all over appeared at small clubs on 7th Street in West Oakland. I frequented places like Slim Jenkin's Supper Club, the Blue Room, Esther's Orbit Room and many other clubs along 7th Street. I enjoyed the likes of B.B. King, Ike & Tina turner, Big Joe Turner, Big Mama Thornton, Etta James, Bobby Blue Bland, Ray Charles and more - wonderful and amazing experiences and memories. I've seen a lot of bands over the years, but I've always missed the sounds and the feelings I experienced back then. When I first saw the Soul Persuaders perform it brought it all back - goosebumps and all - I was "home." I knew I had to work with the band and help bring their talent to all of you. The extraordinary talents of Phil, Fred and Les with the addition of special featured artists results in an unforgettable musical experience. Three members - Phil, Fred and Les - are from Detroit, original home of Motown. As youngsters they lived Motown music. Fred and Les had their own R&B band and performed at Berry Gordy's home. All three moved on to tour and record with many of the major Motown groups. Lee, an accomplished vocalist, is originally from Compton, CA and now makes his home in Reno.
