The Standards, Jazz... Is a quartet of some of the best jazz musicians in Charleston! We can expand. We can add Trumpet, Keys, Trombone, Flute, and Alto sax, if your budget allows. Most commonly, we consist of Drums, Bass, Guitar and Tenor Sax.
Our play list consists of many styles of jazz, and we can lean one way or another depending on the requests of the client. We do not, however, play much Gypsy Jazz, so if that is what you are looking for, you might want to consider another group.
We are all very seasoned players, and some of our members teach music full time, when they are not performing.
We can also perform modern music in a jazz context.
Examples of that would be: Nora Jones, Michael Jackson, The Police, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, and many more.
Recently, we were hired to play the opening of the new Golden Bear Restaurant in the Newly renovated Charleston Airport. This is a Jack Nicklaus brand. We were all fortunate to get his autograph. (mine is on the back of my guitar!)
We would also like to thank very much all the people at Haitian Absolute, who gave us the recent honor to play for their opening of a brand new multi million dollar facility in Monks Corner. (Haitian Absolute is the largest manufacturer of plastic extrusion machines in the world)
We also would like to thank BILO for having us at their grand opening of a new store in Monks Corner.
We would also like to thank Consolidated Planning Inc. for having us play for their new building opening in Mount Pleasant.
We would also like to thank Kelsi Ganon and everyone at Del Webb at Nexton for having us play for the grand opening of their new amenities center.
We would also like to thank Melissa Collins with the SC Bar Association. Melissa has chosen us to play ALL of the SC Bar Association events for the entire state of SC and we have enjoyed very much these experiences and meeting new people.
We would like to thank Nikki Haley for choosing us to play a recent "meet and greet" shortly after her announcement to run for President of The United States. This was a special gig for all of us. Yes we have all played music for a very long time, but none of us have played for a presidential candidate.
We wish Nikki the best and appreciate her time as Governor of South Carolina.
We would like to thank Arabella Maki and everyone at Garden and Gun for hiring us to play the recent "Southern Speakeasy" at their main offices at the Cigar Factory. This will be showcased in an upcoming issue.
We would also like to thank Natalie Osterman and everyone at The City of Blufton Chamber of Commerce for hiring us to play their 2024 Annual awards ceremony at Sun City.
******* Please listen to the audio samples, preferably with some nice speakers, or headphones. So you know, there are NO overdubs on any of the the studio recordings, with the exception of a "clap" track on the tune "Happy". The live recordings were all done with one microphone in front of the band. *******************************
At the risk of being too verbose I would like to offer you this: When you hire The Standards you are hiring the musicians directly. All of your money goes to this effort. You do not have to pay exorbitant fees for great musicians. Don't go thru a booking agency, its just extra mark up.
On another note: We own a full Lighting, Sound and Stage company, if your event also needs those services. We can bundle the price.
If you are looking for a very professional, experienced jazz band that will show up with the right equipment for the venue and play with polish and precision, you have found it!
