Russell has been performing for over thirty-two years and honed his craft playing at bluegrass festivals, corporate outings, street festivals, concerts in the park, wedding rehearsal dinners, receptions, and parties. Having played over 1800 shows in twenty-six states and Canada he is equally comfortable playing for bluegrass fans, entertaining guests at a company picnic, or performing at your next backyard bar-b-que. Booking as a trio, four-piece or five-piece bluegrass band depending on the customer's needs - his show always mixes in crowd favorites, toe-tapping banjo and fiddle instrumentals, and covers from other genres of music. Russell also books Diamond Creek, an award-winning, five-piece bluegrass band from around Raleigh, N.C. Diamond Creek has been performing since 2013 and has appeared at IBMA Wide Open Bluegrass Festival - Raleigh, the Pinecone Celebration of Bluegrass - Cary, Lil’ John’s Mountain Music Festival - Snow Camp, Pickin’ in the Pines at Koka Booth Amphitheater - Cary, Benson Mule Days, White Oak Shores Bluegrass Festival - Stella and so many more concerts, festivals, and venues. Entertaining an audience with genuine, authentic bluegrass music is his number one goal!
