Nothing but good things to say about Josh & the Empty Pockets! They played at my wedding and kept the party going all night, interacting with guests on the dance floor and making sure everyone had a good time. We received many compliments from our guests. They were also easy to work with; we emailed back and forth before the wedding, and Erika (the female vocalist) was always on top of things, reminding me when things were due, what they needed to know, etc. Even when on tour, they were easy to get a hold of. My husband and I needed to change our first dance song last minute, and Erika just said "it's your day...let's make it happen". So glad we chose them!

My girlfriend and I tied the knot a couple weekends ago and I can't say enough about what the band did to help create an awesome night. Everyone danced and danced and sang and just had a great time. Josh as emcee was great and very sweet trying to figure out the terminology he should use at a lesbian wedding. The talent, stage presence, and voices these guys have is just incredible. They were worth every penny and much, much more. Their manager, Adam, was a great help in the lead-up in determining our timeline no order of events. The whole group was so wonderful to work with and our guests couldn't stop talking about how good they were.

Josh and The Empty Pockets exceeded our expectations! Before the event even began, we were hearing from family and friends that they were incredibly polite and sounded great warming up. We were running late and Josh went with the flow and kept things running smoothly the whole evening. They learned three requests for our special dances and played them flawlessly! At the end of the night our hard-to-impress-musician guests were raving as well. My only complaint - I spent way too much time on the dance floor and missed everything else that happened :-)

The band was amazing! They kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night! I definitely want to go see them play again soon. My only critique would be the majority of the songs tended to skew toward an older audience, but still really fun songs and it didn't stop the younger people from dancing the entire night. overall great band with great people and very talented!

Josh and the band did a phenomenal job at our wedding. They handled everything with energy and professionalism, from the grand entrance to the closing song.
They are immensely talented musically. What generally separates a great wedding / event band from the crowd is quality of the vocals. Josh and the band exceeded already high expectations in that regard. We asked them to learn Sara Bareilles' "I Choose You" for the wedding, which is not an easy song to cover, and they absolutely crushed it.
We would hire them again in a heartbeat.
Community Event•Reviewed on February 23, 2017•From Vinton, IA
I absolutely loved having The Empty Pockets perform at our community festival this past summer. They rocked the house, were very kind and professional and the feedback from the community was 100% positive. I look forward to inviting them back again!

We booked this band without even seeing them in person, so we were a little nervous about how it would turn out. From start to finish they were professional, accommodating, and easy to work with. The band is so talented and I loved how they learned 3 songs for us. They also took it in stride when my sister drunkenly walked on stage and danced off-beat behind them (LOL!). Overall, great experience and would definitely recommend them!

We could not be happier with our choice to choose The Empty Pockets. Josh was extremely accommodating and very nice. In addition to the band sounding great and learning all of our requested songs, Josh was also a great emcee. We were nervous having an emcee that didn't know us personally, but Josh and the band really took the time to learn everyone's name and make it very personalized. We highly recommend The Empty Pockets.

Josh & The Empty Pockets were amazing! They are super talented, have a wonderful energy and were exactly what we wanted in a wedding band! We searched for months for the perfect band and they did not disappoint. In fact, they went above and beyond our expectations. They expertly performed awesome covers, including all of our requests for the ceremony and special dances, and had a great mix of music for all ages. There wasn't a time when people weren't on the dance floor and when our guests chanted for an encore, they played the perfect song to end the night! We can't say enough about them. Definitely book Josh & The Empty Pockets for your event!!!
Birthday Party (Adult)•Reviewed on July 22, 2015•From Evanston, IL
These guys made my dream come true. I'd rewritten lyrics to three songs to surprise my friend on his 50th birthday, and Josh and Erika absolutely nailed it. BEYOND nailed it. It was a joy working with them to prepare for the event: they were conscientious and energetic during our rehearsal and open to working with another musician who is a family friend. Beyond that they're just lovely people - dripping with talent. The night of the event, we had a tightly choreographed sequence to make their surprise entrance work. They were there early to walk through it and make sure everything would be right. And then delivered a performance that we'll all remember forever!

Josh and the Empty pockets really rocked our wedding. Josh did an OUTSTANDING job MC'ing and made sure timelines were met and the whole night moved smoothly. We had a few special requests, including songs, speeches, and Chicago Blackhawk updates (Game 5) and Josh and his team did a fantastic job. They really knew how to work the crowd and make sure everyone from small kids, to wedding party, to friends and family including grandparents all stayed on the dance floor and partied all night long. I would recommend Josh and the Empty pockets to anyone who is looking for a band that will keep the party going, and play music that everyone can relate to.

We could not have been more happy with our band choice for our wedding. The Empty Pockets were amazing and kept the dance floor packed all night - even friends that dont normally dance were out there.
Not only were they a great band, but they were fun to be around too. Every person we have talked to about our wedding has specifically brought up the band.
