Wedding•Reviewed on September 15, 2016•From Spruce Creek, PA
:
Marcie and Vince booked me to play at their wedding at the Covered Bridge in Spruce Creek, PA. My performance was a complete surprise to all the guests and family. I had to hide behind a row of evergreens while the ceremony was conducted, and then stepped out to play "Highland Laddie" and "The Old Rustic Bridge" to great applause. I played the Bridal Couple up to the lodge for the Cocktail Hour and then played for 30 minutes on the Great Highland Bagpipe and the Smallpipes. There was a great deal of interest in my attire (Summer Full Dress) and the pipes from the guests. A long drive to get there, but the setting was idyllic.Review by Matt C.
Memorial Service•Reviewed on September 10, 2016•From Gettysburg, PA
:
I was booked to play pipes at a Memorial Service at the Peace Light Memorial on the Gettysburg battlefield. The Vietnam War US Air Force Pleiku Airbase Veterans Association were holding their annual reunion at Gettysburg. Unfortunately, the National Park Service had cordoned off the memorial with an extensive chain link fence. Nevertheless, the service went on as planned. I played a selection of slow marches and airs as the veterans were arriving. During the service, I played "Amazing Grace" as carnations were laid at the front as the names of departed members were read. This was a very moving experience. It was an honor to participate.Review by Katy L.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on October 18, 2016•From Biglerville, PA
:
Katy and Chris' wedding was held in the Historic Round Barn in Biglerville, PA. The ceremony itself was conducted on a tree-lined hilltop on this working farm. I played for the Processional and Recessional, and then in the clearing as people congregated to return to the barn area. The converted round barn for the Reception was huge, with a stone silo in the center. It easily accommodated well over a hundred guests. The weather was superb after two previous rainy weekends. I wore Irish full dress and played a selection of popular and familiar Irish tunes.Review by Mike B.

:
I was booked to play at the wedding of Matt and Suzie at the Alpine Resort at Ski Liberty in Fairfield, PA. This was an excellent venue. Although the ceremony had been planned for outdoors, Hurricane Matthew forced everyone indoors. Fortunately the room was large and I could play the Great Highland Bagpipes for the Prelude and Recessional music. I also played "Amazing Grace" after the Toasts in remembrance of departed members of both families. Mike B., the groom's father, couldn't have been more hospitable.Review by Todd N.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on September 18, 2016•From Carlisle, PA
:
Todd booked me to play at the wedding with his long-term partner. It was held at the Two Mile House in Carlisle, PA. The manor house and the grounds were idyllic, and the pipes sounded great. I played for the Processional and Recessional, and as the guests were greeted. This was a small ceremony, and it was a pleasure to be a part of it.Review by Susan M.
Church Service•Reviewed on December 27, 2016•From Mohnton, PA
:
I was booked to play at a Christmas Eve church service e at the Allegheny United Church of Christ in Mohnton, PA southeast of Reading. This magnificent 250-year old church was entirely lit by candlelight. it was an impressive venue. I played for the Processional and Recessional, and during the Offertory. Many Congregationalists stopped by to compliment me on my playing and to inquire about the pipes. This was a great way to spend a Christmas Eve.Review by Amanda G.
Wedding•Reviewed on December 25, 2016•From Annapolis, MD
:
Amanda booked me to play at her wedding to surprise her husband, Chadd, an active-duty Marine Corps officer. The look on his face as I struck up the pipes was priceless! I also played during the Arch of Swords outside the ceremony site. Later, I played in the Irish pub across the street where many of the guests congregated before the cocktail hour. Army was winning during the annual Army-Navy Game. I wore full dress with all my own awards and decorations since this was a full dress military wedding. Amanda couldn't have been more gracious and great to work with.Review by Michele K.
Nursing Home Event•Reviewed on March 15, 2017•From Elizabethtown, PA
:
Michelle booked me to play for the residents of a local Nursing Home. I dressed in traditional Irish attire since it was close to St. Patrick's Day. I played a lot of Irish tunes with some Scots tunes thrown in as requests came in. The audience members were very appreciative and I hope I brightened their day. I also think that I educated many of them as I talked about the pipes, my attire and my piping experiences. There were also a lot of questions. Thanks, Michelle, for inviting me.Review by kelly j.
Wedding•Reviewed on May 14, 2017•From Conestoga, PA
:
I was booked to play at the wedding of Mindy and Terry at Sickman's Mill in Conestoga, PA. This mill was built in the 1700s, and was an idyllic setting for this celebration. The weather drove the ceremony into a large tent. I wore a piper's Cameron uniform, and had a long conversation with Terry's Scottish grandmother. She was very appreciative, as was the rest of the family. I played a number of popular Scots tunes while standing in a doorway above an opening in the rear of the tent. I enjoyed this engagement immensely and the coordinator and staff at the site were very professional. This was a perfect wedding experience, and Kelly was especially pleasant.Review by Angie D.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on July 9, 2017•From Mechanicsburg, PA
:
Angie & Paula: Thanks for an excellent Review. It was a pleasure to play at the wedding is such an idyllic setting, a farm with a renovated barn and Corn Crib. I got to play in the shade, so it was more comfortable. After the ceremony, I spoke to a number of the guests who were very interested in the pipes, my attire and piping experiences. You were both very kind, and I appreciate your concern for my welfare in the heat, and appreciation for my performance.Review by Greg L.
Memorial Service•Reviewed on June 17, 2017•From Lancaster, PA
:
Greg: Thanks for an excellent Review. It was an honor to be asked to play at your evocative and moving Memorial Service at the Millersville Bible Church. I wore Scottish Daywear in Royal Stewart tartan for this somber but uplifting event. I suggested and chose to play "The Flowers of the Forest" in memory of the departed members of the Association. I am usually very flexible and try hard to accommodate myself to the wishes and needs of any clients. Please keep me in mind for next year's service.Review by Daniel J.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on January 2, 2018•From Harrisburg, PA
:
Daniel hired me to play at his wedding to Erika at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Harrisburg, PA. This was a magnificent venue. The acoustics were fantastic! I wore traditional Irish full-dress with Piper's Cloak since it was a very cold day outside. The Bridal Couple chose "The Dawning of the Day" to be played as I led them down the aisle at the end of the ceremony after they were first introduced as Mr. & Mrs. ... The church was packed with guests who were all well-dressed and enthusiastic for the couple. This was a very joyful event which I thoroughly enjoyed.Review by Deborah T.
Funeral•Reviewed on December 12, 2017•From New Holland, PA
:
John & Deborah hired me to play at the funeral of their father at the Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. It was a pleasure and honor to provide piping support for this moving ceremony. Although it was very cold, the pipes (and my fingers) held up well. I played "The Flowers of the Forest" as the National Flag was being ceremonially folded and presented to the family. Scottish families are always so appreciative to hear the pipes at the final farewell for their loved one.Review by Anna H.
Community Event•Reviewed on November 20, 2017•From Harrisburg, PA
:
I was booked to play at the Grand Opening of a Sears Store in Camp Hill, PA. I was retained at short notice, and was asked to play in the store as people were gathering for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ceremony was originally scheduled for outdoors, but it was just too cold for everyone. It was a pleasure to meet many of the staff, politicians and customers. The atmosphere was very welcoming, and my wife did some shopping while I played. The staff asked me to play our Band Patriotic Set since it was the day before Veteran's Day.Review by Marianne S.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on October 16, 2017•From Lititz, PA
:
Marianne booked me to play at her wedding vows renewal in a small park north of Lititz, PA. Both she and husband, Clay, were Marine Corps veterans, as was her father who officiated at the renewal. We were also invited to stay for the celebration and enjoy some delicious food. It was a pleasure to speak with a number of the guests, and it's always great to play at a wedding! Both Marianne and her father were gratified when I played "The Marine Hymn" and the Air Force song, "Off we go, into the wild blue yonder..."Review by Lauren A.
Wedding•Reviewed on September 22, 2017•From Elizabethtown, PA
:
Lauren & Gareth booked me to play at their wedding at the Ironstone Ranch in Elizabethtown, PA. This was an idyllic setting, and the weather was perfect after a number of days of rain. I played during the ceremony in the orchard. Lauren and her father arrived in a horse-drawn carriage. I also played them into the Reception in the large barn to the strains of "Highland Laddie." They cordially invited me to stay for dinner. I particularly liked the fact that Gareth is local law enforcement, so I wore the cap badge and plaid brooch of the Nassau County Police Pipe Band with which I played on Long Island for 15 years. Family and guests could not have been nicer.Review by Chrissy W.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on March 18, 2018•From Malvern, PA
:
Chrissy hired me to play at her Irish wedding with Shaun B. on St. Patrick's Day at the Desmond Hotel. This was a very swanky venue. Chrissy was terrific to work with. She had some great ideas and was very hospital. I wore Irish traditional attire and all the music I played fit in with the day's events and the holiday. I enjoyed meeting both families who couldn't have been kinder.Review by Sue W.
Funeral•Reviewed on February 9, 2018•From Hallam, PA
:
At my suggestion, Sue booked me through Gigmasters to play at her father's funeral in Hallam, PA. at St. James Lutheran Church. This was a very moving ceremony. I played "The Flowers of the Forest" at the beginning, and "Amazing Grace" to end the service. The inclement weather probably kept some people away, but I drove it very carefully. The pipes sounded great in this older church. The congregants were very gracious to my presence.Review by Denise M.
Memorial Service•Reviewed on April 12, 2018•From York, PA
:
Denise hired me to play at her brother's Memorial Service in a church in York, PA. I'm pleased that my performance added to the solemnity and importance of the ceremony. I played the traditional lament, "The Flowers of the Forest," and other appropriate music. I was honored to be asked to perform and hope that my music provided some peace and closure for the family.Review by Spencer S.
Wedding•Reviewed on October 28, 2018•From Philadelphia, PA
:
Spenser booked me to play at his wedding to Kaitlyn at the Racquet Club in downtown Philadelphia. All his new families and friends were extremely friendly and appreciative. I wore the No. 1 Dress Uniform of a piper in the Scots Guards. Spencer wanted me to play for 30 minutes as guests were arriving before the ceremony. It was much too cold and rainy outside so I played in the large lobby where the ceremony was being held. The pipes have never sounded better!Review by Chariti G.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on October 22, 2018•From Mount Joy, PA
:
Chariti booked me over a year ago to play at her wedding to David in the Catacombs of Bube's Brewery in MT Joy, PA. This was a very unusual venue; underground in a stone-lined chamber. Since it was rather confined, Chariti asked me to play my MacCallum Smallpipes. I must say that the acoustics in this chamber were terrific, and I received a number of appreciative thanks from the guests. I was able to play before and after the ceremony; "The Brown Haired Maiden" for the Handfasting; and "The Caisson Song" for the Groom who was a retired Army veteran as a Recessional.Review by Gary G R.
Funeral•Reviewed on October 9, 2018•From Carlisle, PA
:
Gary booked me to play at the gravesite of his mother (a Gordon) in a local cemetery in Carlisle, PA. This was almost a last-minute thing as I had some family complications to deal with. I played as the casket was being carried to the grave to the strains of "The Flowers of the Forest" and "The 74th Slow March." After the final prayers, I played "Amazing Grace" and moved off into the distance. This was a sad occasion, but the family was very appreciative.Review by ROGER M.
Wedding Reception•Reviewed on October 1, 2018•From York, PA
:
Roger booked me to play at his daughter's wedding at the Historic Shady Lane in Manchester, PA. This was an impressive site and the weather was magnificent. I played during the opening ceremony at the Reception. Roger's family had established a tradition of having a piper play at the weddings of his three older sons. To the surprise of the guests and the Bride, I entered playing "Highland Laddie." and then accompanied everyone who sang "Amazing Grace." It was quite an event!Review by Ryan M.
Celebration•Reviewed on October 15, 2018•From Lancaster, PA
:
Ryan booked me to play at a Golf Outing at the Lancaster Country Club. I played for an hour near the putting green. It gave my repertoire quite a good practice session. The golfers loved the piping, and this was an awesome site. I would do this again in a minute.Review by Amanda S.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on October 5, 2018•From Emmitsburg, MD
:
Amanda booked me to play before and after her wedding ceremony at the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Mt. St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD. This was a magnificent venue on a hill overlooking the athletic fields where various rugby teams were playing all afternoon. The guests were surprised by my presence and many expressed their appreciation. Since the Groom's family were Scots, I played all Scottish music that day. I wore summer full-dress in MacKenzie tartan.
