John Stevens has been a Member
 for many years of the:

 National Cartoonist Society 

 The International Society of Caricature Artists,
  
and an Associate Member of The Society Of Illustrators.

He has been a Professional Cartoonist, Illustrator
 & Caricaturist for over 50 years.

While at School of Visual Arts, John , worked , on weekends, 
in the Concession stand of a famous 
Summer Stock Theatrical stage shows
Whereupon , he drew he appearing celebrities,   
from their magazine pictures,at home ,
and brought them to the theatre,  
took a break, and 
went back stage, knocked on their stage door
,introduced himself,and gave them 
their cartoon portraits
Chutzpah...

Jayne Mansfield,  was the first celebrity John drew,, 
she was beautiful, John gave her ,her cartoon portrait, 
She said , this is for me...I nodded  yes, and she
patted John on his cheek, and  said
Thank you, you sweet boy"

A week,  later Liberace was there,
 John drew  , a cartoon portrait for him, 
..Lee as he was called,was shy, 
John gave him the cartoon portrait, 
Lee stuttered a bit
& said.
Would you like my autograph.?
..John,, said yes,
He signed the program adding  a sketch of 
His candle arbor 
The Lovin' Spoonfull rock stars & more

John's first published cartoons were created  in 1968,
for Esquire Socks via 
 Robin Leach's Rock & Roll Newspaper 
called, Go Magazine , 
...
, Then Royal Crown Cola, and a few political comic strips ,too
That is how it all started 50 years ago.
From then onto..now...

A sofisticated adult night spot 

and Gotham , in Paramus NJ 
a Batman's  fun party place

HIGHLY recommended for any party. John came all the way from NY to CT to draw at our one year old daughter's party. We hired him for two hours and he went above and beyond by staying an extra two hours to make sure everyone who wanted a picture got one. He's really friendly and talented; he was even taking special requests on pictures. Definitely a huge reason why our party was a blast.

It was a pleasure having John at our sons 1st Birthday party.  Not only is he extremely talented but he is so down to earth and very personable. During the day he was very accommodating and catered to all of our needs. John was the hit of the party! Looking forward to hanging our "superhero" family caricture in our house to cherish forever. 

John was great!!! I would recommend him for anyone wanting something a little unique for their event!!

My party guests just loved their cartoon pictures that were drawn for them. He was in high demand, and just about all of my guest wanted one of his drawings! I would hire him again in the future. 

This is my third time using John for parties for all ages - I had him at a 1st birthday party, an adult birthday party and now a holiday office party.  His talent is outstanding and his personality engages the guests.  Thanks again John for adding that little something extra to our event.  

John was great to have at my party! He accommodated everyone who wanted a caricatoonist done!!!
