About Vendor

Learn more about this vendor for your event.

SANGHATONES BAND was formed by Singer/Travel Writer Martina Clark and Multi-Instrumentalist Neal JeanPierre, and include some of the most talented and experienced musicians from the New York City area. We took our name from the Buddhist/Sanskrit word Sangha which means community, as we consider ourselves as a community of musicians and artists trying to help spread peace, love, unity, and joy through music. While our sound is rooted in roots reggae and world music, we are also influenced by other genres of music such as Jazz, Funk, Soul, Blues, and Rock, so our sound is as much authentic reggae as it is a universal crossover sound which will appeal to the masses. A Sanghatones performance is both energetic and entertaining and includes covers of many popular songs as well as our own original material and extended grooving instrumental jams that will have you dancing along. Our musicians are musically well versed and versatile enough to adapt to each client's needs and are more than capable of playing in any genre of music as need be. We offer our client a truly enjoyable and professional experience as demonstrated both by our entertaining performances and business ethics. The band can adapt from a 3-4 piece combo all the way up to a full 9 members with a full horn section, depending on the client's needs. Past performances have included various festivals and venues such as St. Lucia Jazz Fest, SXSW Fest, Sierra Nevada Fest, Knitting Factory, Fat Baby, Bowery Electric, Leftfield Bar/Lounge, Desmond's Tavern, Ella Lounge, Uncle Mike's, Shrine, Rayhand's Loft, Swallow East (Hamptons), Sloppy Tuna (Hamptons) and various other venues and private/corporate events in the tri-state and Long Island/Montauk area, both as headliners and as a backing band for other artists. Busy gigging all over the NYC metro area as a self-contained unit, we also act as the backing and touring band for many NYC and Tri-State area based recording and performing artists such as Taj Weekes & Adowa, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Jimmy Cozier, Judah Tribe, Nasio Fontaine, Jimmy Cliff, Meta & The Cornerstones, Bushman, Fyaworks, Ska-Danks, Easy Star All-Stars, Ragga Lox, Khalilah Rose, Dub Poet Anton, Paapa Wastik, and Paul Wayne, among many others. Our music will definitely leave the audience and you entertained and wanting more. We look forward to helping provide the soundtrack to your event and making it a joyous and memorable occasion. We come with love in our hearts, and the joy and passion of music,... the universal language!

DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. I have been talking to the band leader, Neal, for weeks - discussing set lists, timing, set up, etc. for weeks. One day before the event he confirmed his band would be there ready to play. I explained that the band was going to be a big surprise for all of our guests and that we were SO excited. He told me they were practicing some new songs for us that I had requested. Thirty minutes before the event, he informed me he was not coming. It's an awful thing to do to someone on the day of a big event. We had to run to Best Buy and set up a sound system w/in 30 minutes and run a playlist. Not quite the same feel as a live reggae band.
