Have a Movie Night

“Our favorite idea for family fun is an at home movie night! Grab all the snacks and tasty treats to enjoy during the movie. And be sure to have plenty of blankets and pillows to create the ultimate cozy night in,” shared Level Events

In the summer, you can host an outdoor movie night to kick it up a notch. Whether you bring a tv outside, or rent a green screen for a movie theater set up, the whole family is sure to enjoy it.

Make it Interactive

Taryn Mitsunaga + Michelle Kelley of Taryn + Co shared, “What better way to kick off the summer than to gear up for everything you’ll need! Create a scavenger hunt leading your kids to all of their summer essentials. Swimsuit, flip flops, sunscreen, sunglasses, a favorite toy, a pool float, etc. The possibilities are endless!!"

Get Creative Outdoors

“Take the kids on an outdoor nature hunt – have them collect leaves, flowers, rocks, and any other small items they can find, and draw pictures of their collection. Create a scrapbook of “Our Summer Nature Catalog” with a binder to hold all of their drawings. It’s a great way to keep the kids creative and give them a “daily activity” to put their energy towards,” suggests Leila Lewis, CEO at Be Inspired PR.

Get Involved with the Community

Ari Busch, Operations Manager and Lead Planner at Bridal Bliss says,“Taking time with family to reflect on those who may be struggling and finding small ways that you can help their situations can be a great family activity."

“This could include assembling comfort kits for the homeless, planning a sock drive, or creating kid-friendly information brochures to hand deliver to neighbors.”

“Not only is this a great way to allow kiddos to take the lead on a small at-home project, but it provides the opportunity to let them see the importance of giving back to those in their community who need it most!”

Have a Water Party

Leila Lewis knows kids love the water in the summer, no matter what it is! “No, a pool is not required! Use what you have access to: sprinklers, splash pads, miniature inflatable pools, water guns, etc. Set up a cooler outside with ice cold drinks and snacks (you can’t go wrong with fresh fruit or popsicles for treats!) and put the kids in their bathing suits in the backyard and let them go nuts!”
