I was very happy with Fred's performance at my grandfather's memorial. He was extremely professional and I could tell he was very talented (as a musician - not a bagpipe afficionado). I found his website helpful for listenting to songs and gettings song lists. The only recommendation I would give is to utilize direct email a bit more once a booking has been confirmed. Messaging on gigmasters is not always accessible on all mobile devices and the interface is not as efficient as email.

Fred was great. It was a rainy day at the cemetery and Fred was there before us and was ready to play. It's hard to keep the pipes tuned in that kind of weather, but Fred played perfectly. Playing Amazing Grace after my mom was handed the American flag, brought tears to everyone there. I would recommend Fred to anyone who needs a quality player and a respectful, fine gentleman.

I hired Fred to play at a memorial service for my Scottish mother. I played the pipes for years and as such was looking for a quality, talented, piper... I listened to Fred's posted recordings and was impressed with his playing ability. He arrived early, was well prepared, called me a few days before to ask for requests, then played those at the service and more. He coordinated with the Pastor and brought insight to our event. Fred took some of the burden from us and for that I am grateful. I will certainly call on him again and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone wanting to have a great sounding piper...

Thanks so much to Fred Payne for playing at our father’s memorial service. He was courteous and professional, and knew exactly when to be “present” and when to fade into the background. He was very flexible with our last minute decisions during the memorial, took his cues from us, and communicated well with us to make the whole thing easy. Fred Payne did a wonderful job preforming and was very patient with all of the photo requests. Our guests loved the sound of the bagpipes!! I would recommend a phone call with Fred before your event going over all details so there is no miscommunication the day of.

Fred was phenomenal! We had Fred surprise our wedding guests at the end of the reception. He walked around (outside) our venue, and as he did he started to play. We were all inside and suddenly our guests heads just whipped around searching for where the sound was coming from. When he walked in you could tell everyone was just pleasantly shocked. It was so unexpected for them. Nonetheless, he is super talented, and his music is just perfect. He brought my husband’s Uncle (of Scottish descent) to tears with his performance. We highly recommend Fred to anyone planning a wedding in the Sonoma County!

Fred's performance was powerful, subtle, and deeply moving. The song he suggested to close out our father's memorial was full of nobility and honor, and even a bit of joy. The service ended with Fred marching from the hall while playing. The sound of his pipes fading into the distance, and then disappearing, was profound, and a moment of grace. Also, Fred's presence before and after the memorial was unobtrusive and reassuring. In short, we were glad he was there.

Fred Payne was sensational. Every single person at our St. Helena, CA wedding (165 people) was blown away by this surprise. I had Fred play the Highland Cathedral on the bagpipes as a solo after the bridesmaids walked down the aisle. It was a total surprise that no one expected. Everyone's jaws dropped. I then followed Fred Payne with my father down the aisle after he had walked down by himself. At the end of the wedding, for the recessional, he played Scotland the Brave and it gave everyone chills. Best idea ever! He was PERFECT in everyway! Would recommended him to everyone!!!
