Mr. John Payne's expert piping was of a kind only found in a person who has spent a lifetime mastering the art of turning the bag-pipes into an instrument which makes memories for both happy and solemn events. He was timely, courteous, dressed in the appropriate Scottish garb. He began the ceremony with Amazing Grace, and after a 30 minute outpouring of eulogies for the departed, ended with Scotland The Great. OUTSTANDING is a word I heard from many! Top of his skills.

This is my first engagement of an individual piper. (But I've attended many gatherings in California and Nova Scotia.) The event was a memorial gathering of family and friends of a late "chief" of the family. Fred Payne, the Champion Piper, was OUTSTANDING in all aspects. His poise, choice of dress and music selection was excellent. He performed for more than two hours (breaks included). Comments I heard by his performance included "excellent", "best I've heard", "brought memories", and"has the children dancing." He'll be "my" piper again.

Fred was a wonderful addition to our International Day at school! He was a "surprise" for the students, and there were many tears in teachers' eyes as he piped in the parade of 36 flags. Fred then played while the 3rd grade girls danced a Scottish Country Dance - the girls had not practiced to live music [ since it was a surprise ], and Fred matched their dancing very well. Fred was very easy to work with, and conducted himself in a very professional manner.

Fred was very professional and accommodating even when faced with bad weather and a very nasty wedding coordinator. He made every effort to ensure his music sounded great in blizzard conditions. Apparently bagpipes are sensitive to the cold weather. He was easy to work with and was able to accomodate our requests with little preparation and still sound amazing. I recommend him for any special occasion. Thanks Fred.

Tongue in cheek humor from the groom. HE was the "nasty wedding coordinator". This was a lovely wedding. A glass wall behind the alter looked onto a pine forest and it was snowing! This was in Squaw Valley. They all went skiing instead of having a reception. I had a wonderful time with this couple and their family.

The champion bagpiper made the wedding. We were outside with the ocean roaring behind us. The flowers were beautiful as was the bride. When the bagpiper played everyone gasped. He added so much to the ambience. Some people walking by thought a movie was being made. I know alot of people will steal our idea. Naturally I gave them your information.
