Wedding•Reviewed on July 6, 2019•From Philadelphia, PA
:
Josephine and her husband booked Josiah and I to play at their daughter's wedding at the Union Trust (a renovated bank) in downtown Philadelphia. This was an impressive venue. We arrived early for the rehearsal, and later took our time warming-up and dressing. We did a lot of piping to the delight of the guests who were all seated below on the main floor. Josephine did a lot of planning in terms of the selection of tunes, and we played some of our own favorites. We were invited to stay for the cocktail hour and the dinner which was certainly delicious. It was a long drive, but certainly worthwhile.Review by Shelley M.
Memorial Service•Reviewed on July 15, 2019•From Allenwood, PA
:
I received a very kindly Letter of Appreciation from Warden H. for my performance at the annual Corrections Officer Memorial Service at the United States Penitentiary at Allenwood, PA. All the employees I met were both welcoming and appreciative. It was an honor to be invited to play "Amazing Grace" and "The Flowers of the Forest" during this service. I would be pleased to be invited back again next year.Review by Cheryl A.

Cheryl booked me to play at her husband's funeral at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in York. PA. I played outside the front door before the Funeral Mass began, and then later escorted the casket to the Bell Tower area where Military Honors were conducted. After Taps, I played "The Flowers of the Forest" and "Going Home." It was an honor to participate in this engagement.Review by David M.
Funeral•Reviewed on June 15, 2019•From Gettysburg, PA
:
I was booked to play at the interment of David's parents in Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg, PA. On a beautiful, breezy day, I played "Shenandoah" as the mourners gathered for the service. Two U.S. Naval Reserve Sailors played Taps and folded the American flag over the grave. I played "The Flowers of the Forest" as the traditional lament; and then "Amazing Grace" as I moved off into the distance. David was very gracious in inviting me to his home for food and drink; an opportunity to meet his family and friends; and a chance to play a few more tunes on the pipes. Thank you, David.Review by John S.
Funeral•Reviewed on August 21, 2019•From Halifax, PA
:
On a very warm, humid day, I played at the funeral of an Army veteran in Halifax, PA. Also participating were a VFW Honor Guard which fired the three volleys, and two PA National Guardsmen who played Taps and folded the National Flag. Fortunately the interment was held under a large tree which provided welcome shade. I played as the casket was being conveyed to the grave, and then "Amazing Grace" after the final prayers and military honors.Review by Dwight M.
Celebration•Reviewed on August 15, 2019•From Harrisburg, PA
:
Dwight M. booked me to play at his mother's 90th Birthday Party at the Assisted Living facility. This was a great surprise for her and the other residents. I played Scottish and Irish tunes on the Great Highland Bagpipe and the Smallpipes, including "Happy Birthday." I also stayed afterward to talk to the residents and answer their questions. This was really a pleasurable engagement, and I was happy to spread some Celtic culture.Review by Danielle C.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on August 10, 2019•From Fogelsville, PA
:
I played for Danielle and Mike's wedding at the Glasbern Inn near Allentown. This was a perfect weather day and the venue was idyllic in the rolling hills of eastern Pennsylvania. Dani asked me to play before the ceremony, and after the ceremony as guests were moving downhill to the cocktail hour. It was a pleasure to work with Dani and play all her Irish requests.Review by Bethany E.
Birthday Party (Adult)•Reviewed on August 18, 2019•From Hershey, PA
:
I met Bethany and her son, Jameson, who originally wished to learn to play the bagpipes. He will need to be a few years older, but I was also booked to play at his birthday party in Hershey, PA. It was a very warm afternoon, but everyone got into the pool to cool off. I played some extensive Irish sets (in the shade!), and also got to meet the other guests. It was a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.Review by Ruth N.

I played at the wedding of Catherine and Mike at St. Jude's Church in Chalfont, PA. This was a lovely day. I wore traditional Irish full-dress with Saffron kilt and plaid with Tara Brooch. I played before and after the ceremony with special Irish tunes selected by the Bride's grandmother. The reception and appreciation from the many guests could not be surpassed. Everyone was exceptionally welcoming.Review by LAUREN C.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on October 21, 2019•From Cockeysville, MD

Lauren booked me to play at her wedding to Daniel in Cockeysville, MD. The early Autumn weather was perfect for a wedding. I played before the ceremony as guests are arriving, and afterwards as the guests were socializing. Daniel asked me to play "Scotland the Brave," among other familiar tunes. I wore the full-dress of a piper in the 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders in MacKenzie tartan.Review by Heather L.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on October 27, 2019•From Millersville, PA
:
Heather and I worked closely together. She had me play at the wedding of her son at the family estate and barn venue. I wore the No. 1 Dress of a piper in the Scots Guards. This was a complete surprise to almost everyone. Heather picked out the music she wanted me to play, and I included "The Brown Haired Maiden" because the Bride, Rachel, was a brunette.Review by Mary Ellen R.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on September 21, 2019•From Palmerton, PA

I was hired to play at a wedding at the Blue Mountain Ski Resort in the Pocono Mountains. This was a very idyllic and impressive setting. The outdoor ceremony set the scene for a repertoire of Irish tunes. Both families were extremely welcoming and I posed for a wealth of photos. It was a long drive but well worth the time and energy. Mary Ellen introduced me to her large family who I enjoyed meeting and chatting with. Thanks for hiring me and making me part of this memorable day.Review by Andrew H.
Funeral•Reviewed on August 25, 2019•From Jonestown, PA
:
Andrew booked me to play at the funeral of his grandmother in a United Methodist Church in Lebanon County, PA. I played before the service as mourners were arriving, and then played "Amazing Grace" after the prayers. I played outside as the sanctuary was very small and seating was limited. Andrew's grandmother had always wanted bagpipes to be played at her funeral.Review by Jay P.
Birthday Party (Adult)•Reviewed on November 26, 2019•From Mechanicsburg, PA
:
Jay hired me to play at a birthday party for his mother at an assisted living facility. She was actually turning 98 that day! I played in the Activity Room for all the residents by demonstrating the Great Highland Bagpipe and the Smallpipes. I then played in a smaller room for other family members who had arrived. Jay and his family were especially appreciative.Review by Cat K.
Wedding Reception•Reviewed on November 25, 2019•From Gap, PA
:
Cat booked me to play at her brother's wedding in the renovated barn at the White Chimneys Farm in Gap, PA. Although I also brought my Smallpipes, the acoustics for the Great Highland Bagpipe were fantastic. I played for the Processional and Recessional, and also during the cocktail hour. The Father of the groom was especially welcoming, and I received a number of thank-you' s from the guests. A great occasion!Review by KEVIN G.

Kevin hired me to play at his father's funeral in Sunbury, PA This was a very cold day and the officiant allowed me to play inside the church as people were arriving. I played after the Mass, and then at the cemetery as the casket was being conveyed to the grave. I played "The Flowers of the Forest" as a lament, and then "Amazing Grace," as people began to disperse. Snowed covered the ground around us on the hillsides.Review by Hannah C.
Memorial Service•Reviewed on January 5, 2020•From East Berlin, PA
:
On a damp, dreary Saturday afternoon, I played in a rural country cemetery for the funeral of Hannah's f father. We planned the music together for a Scottish event. The pipes echoed beautifully throughout the countryside. Hannah even asked me to repeat "Amazing Grace." After a family toast of Scotch Whiskey, I played "Leaving Liverpool," certainly an upbeat family favorite tune. I was happy to participate in this meaningful event.Review by Elizabeth H.
Wedding•Reviewed on December 28, 2019•From Horsham, PA
:
The wedding afternoon of Elizabeth and Bryan at The Manor House at Commonwealth started with cloudy, dreary and cold weather. Just before the ceremony started, the sun came out on what was an outdoor, but covered venue. I played before the ceremony, and as the Groomsmen entered the scene. Elizabeth also wanted me to play "The Road to the Isles" for the Handfast. I had a lengthy chat in the dining room with her father before the ceremony. As a native Scotsman, he had a lot of memories to recount.Review by Deidre S.
Private Party•Reviewed on December 28, 2019•From Lancaster, PA

Deidre booked me to play at her Christmas Party in her beautiful home in Lancaster City, PA. The large, impressively furnished house was open to many guests. I played a number of Christmas Carols and other Scottish and Irish favorites. I also chatted with a number of her guests, some of whom shared my military service interests. Deidre and her husband Bill, were certainly welcoming and hospitable.Review by Elaine S.

:
Thank you, Elaine, for hiring me to play at your wedding at the Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace on the banks of the Susquehanna River in Maryland. This was an Irish wedding, so I played in full-dress attire in Saffron Kilt and plaid, and Caubeen. I played as guests were arriving, and then for the Processional. I closed out the tunes after the ceremony as the guests were moving to the cocktail hour. Everyone was very welcoming, especially the Bride's mother.Review by Kelly B.
Church Service•Reviewed on November 15, 2020•From York, PA
:
On Friday evening, I played at the local Knights of Columbus Blue Mass at the St. Joseph R.C. Parish Church. The first Blue Mass was held in 1934 in Washington, D.C. for public servants who wore blue uniforms. I was proud to be there as a retired NYS parole officer. My uniform also honored the late Pipe Major Angus MacDonald who died 21 year ago. I played two tunes: Abide With Me to begin the Mass, and Amazing Grace as a Recessional. I accompanied the pianist, flautist and vocalist.Review by Rita B.
Wedding Ceremony•Reviewed on October 11, 2020•From Lewisberry, PA

I was pleased to play at the wedding of Kevin and Rita at the Pinchot State Park in Lewisberry, PA. I led the wedding party and guests onto a promontory which jutted out into Warrington Lake. I played a selection of Irish pipe tunes before and after the wedding ceremony. I wore traditional Irish attire based on the uniform of a piper in the Royal Irish Regiment as the groom's family had emigrated from Northern Ireland. I also had the opportunity to speak to a number of the guests. The groom was certainly surprised by my performance!Review by Kirsty L.

:
Kirsty first contacted me in January 2019 as part of her wedding planning. After a number of re-schedules due to site cancellations and the Covid virus, the wedding was held at the Lauxmont Farm in Wrightsville, PA. Kirsty had me play on a hillside above the wedding ceremony location. Her family, who are Scottish, were very glad to see me there. I played a number of Kirsty's selections and a few of my own. This was a great wedding celebration!Review by Susan D.
Funeral•Reviewed on October 10, 2020•From Bloomsburg, PA
:
As a family friend, Susan booked me to play at the funeral in Bloomsburg, PA. This was held in a modern church downtown. I played before the Mass, and again as people were leaving the Sanctuary. I was also invited for refreshments and fellowship at the family home. A sad day, but one I hoped was memorialized by the pipes.Review by Deborah K.
Funeral•Reviewed on October 4, 2020•From Tower City, PA
:
Deborah booked me to play at her mother's gravesite in a rural cemetery in Williamstown, PA. Her mom had died last November, and her family, in going through her papers, discovered that she wished to have the pipes played at the funeral. I complied by playing Amazing Grace and The Flowers of the Forest. The pipes sounded lovely along the hillside in this serene setting.
