5 Unique Party Ideas for a Non-Bummer Summer

Chelsea Pellegrino

Summer may be filled with lazy days, but there’s always a good reason to party! We’re giving you this list of occasions to celebrate besides the warm weather. Check out these 5 events that will help you have a non-bummer summer:

1. International Sushi Day: June 18th

Turn this “holiday” into a hands-on experience! Gather friends and family for a sushi rolling tutorial at home. You can find plenty of step-by-step instructions on YouTube, or you can even hire a chef to come lead a class. If your guests aren’t big on the delicacy, try “dessert” sushi instead! Cake pops, krispy treats and other sweets can be easily transformed to resemble this Japanese cuisine.

2. First Day of Summer: June 21st

The best way to celebrate this occasion would of course be outside. If weather permits, put together a picnic packed with the best summer treats: watermelon, grilled veggies and refreshing ice pops. To decorate, try tartan table cloths and basket centerpieces. You can also check out our post on outdoor lounges for some awesome set up inspiration!

3. Pina Colada Day: July 10th

It’s only appropriate to celebrate this occasion with a Hawaiian luau. Book a bartender to serve up tasty cocktails (with or without alcohol) alongside other island menu items. Hibiscus flowers, grass skirts and a few Hula dancers will really take guests to the tropics.

We all scream for…well, you know. Celebrate everyone’s favorite summer sweet by having an ice cream party. Craft a buffet containing scoops of various flavors, sauces and all the fixin’s. Insider tip: prep and freeze individual scoops in cups or on wax paper for easier serving!
