Father's Day simply does not get the love that Mother's Day does in our society. It's hard to imagine anyone not realizing they'd scheduled their wedding over Mother's Day weekend. But, when we recently asked couples with weddings scheduled for this upcoming weekend how they were incorporating Father's Day in to their plans, many were surprised to learn that it was Father's Day!
Some of the couples are planning to incorporate something special for their father though. Many couples mentioned special toasts or special gifts to be given at either the rehearsal dinner, the reception, or in some cases the day after brunch (for Saturday weddings, the brunch is on Sunday, Father's Day).
A lot of couples mentioned that their fathers are taking an active role in choosing music, or that they themselves have chosen musical numbers that they believe their fathers will appreciate.
In one case, the couple is planning a Candy Bar stocked with their father's favorites and a Happy Father's Day Sign.
In some cases, where one or more father has passed away, the couple is planning a special photo tribute on a table. For one couple, a visit to the groom's father's tomb is on the weekend agenda.
In a fun twist, one bride mentioned that as an older bride her son will be giving her away. He and his wife are expecting their first baby and so the bride has chosen a special song to be played for him.
Whatever your Father's Day plans, make it a great one!
