Graduation Party Ideas and Planning

Drew Stoga

Every year at about this time we start to get a flood of gig requests from clients planning graduation parties. Other than a wedding, it’s hard to think of a better reason to party. Graduation, from either high school or college, is a really big deal. So, let’s celebrate!alt Personally, I think the best graduation parties take place outside. By the time graduation rolls around it will be the perfect time of year for a barbecue - weather permitting (fingers crossed).

BBQs are perfect for serving large crowds, just make sure not to overextended yourself on the menu. You want to be able to enjoy the party! If you are planning a big graduation party (and why not –the bigger the better, right?) a DJ might provide the perfect entertainment. With a DJ you have the most control over what songs you hear (check out our top graduation songs for 2010 and 2011 for playlist inspiration). But if you really want to control the sound of your graduation party – step up to the mic and hire a karaoke DJ. Live bands of all kinds (cover bands, dance bands, etc.) are also great for larger graduation parties. Find a party theme from The Bash to add an extra fun touch to a graduation party.

If you are planning a more intimate celebration, a jazz trio or ensemble could be a nice touch. Whatever you plan for your graduation party or for the grad in your life –we hope you have an amazing time. Congratulations to all the grads!   Leave us a comment below and let us know how you plan on celebrating graduation.
