Real Event: Bonnaroo Fun with Alex and Ani

Chelsea Pellegrino

On the 12th of June, Manchester, Tennessee was transformed into a whimsical land of music, art and fun- all for this little thing called Bonnaroo (maybe you’ve heard of it?) This year, the famous festival brought a lineup of stellar acts, from Elton John and Kanye West to Ben Folds and Kaskade.

While these artists were all amazing, our favorite came in the form of a face painter. GigMasters member Kira of Happy Cat Face Painting was asked to work her magic for festival goers by none other than rock star jewelry gurus, Alex and Ani!

This was the brand’s first year sponsoring Bonnaroo, so they wanted to kick it off with a bang. Their Live Music Lounge included a mobile bangle bar, prize giveaway wheel, photo booth, and Kat’s face paintings! So, how did Alex and Ani stumble across her fantastic work? GigMasters, of course!

Alex and Ani's Event Marketing Manager, Samantha, came across our site while researching face painters in the Manchester area. Happy Cat Face Painting's profile stood out, which ultimately led her to book Kira for the event. “She was in close proximity to the festival, her artwork looked great, and she was affordable!” Samantha shared.

As for Kira- she’s no stranger to festivals, but this was her first time at such a large scale music event. To prepare for it, she looked up photos of music festivals and got a feel for what kinds of paintings clients might want. After talking with the awesome ladies of Alex and Ani, she also mastered some special designs based on the charms that they sell.

With the beautiful jewelry, fun entertainment and cool atmosphere, the booth was a major success. It was visited by a few hundred guests per day! “I had several repeat customers throughout the four day event," said Kira. “Everyone that I painted was so nice and loved what I did.”

Kira admitted she was a little nervous on the first day, but that quickly subsided thanks to the positivity of Alex and Ani. “I loved it, I would definitely do it again - everyone at the Alex and Ani booth was so wonderful!”

Unsurprisingly, the feeling was mutual! According to Samantha, “Kira was great to have at this event! Attendees seemed to love her work and GigMasters was so easy to work with!”

Thanks again to Samantha of Alex and Ani and Kira of Happy Cat Face Painting for sharing the awesome responses and photos. We hope to see this superstar collaboration again at next year’s Bonnaroo!
